The Bands
LOS BANDIDOS
Los Bandidos is an eight-piece Latin Jazz dance band that plays all over
New York State. The band, made up of three horns, three percussionists,
piano, and bass, was formed during 1999 in Ithaca, NY, where the band
played to many packed venues, including to a crowd of over 500 at the
first annual Ithaca Jazz Festival.
Since then, the band has performed at colleges and universities including
Ithaca College, Cornell University, NYU, Wagner College, and Hunter College.
Los Bandidos has also performed at many clubs in the NYC area, including
the famous Gonzalez Y Gonzalez. The band has played at many weddings where
they frequently play a mix of authentic Latin dance music, as well as
swing/big band songs, which provides their guests with a great variety
of dance music.
Los Bandidos' music includes a mix of salsa, mambos, cha cha chas, and
boleros. They perform both original music, as well as songs by Latin music
legends including Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, and Cubanismo to name a
few.

THE KAZZ BAND
The Kazz Band is an instrumental group made up of sax, vibraphone/keyboards,
bass and drums that performs primarily smooth jazz - a genre of music
that combines the best elements of both pop and jazz music. The Kazz Band
exemplifies this style by playing instrumental versions of famous pop
hits, and rounding their songs out with cool jazz-oriented improvisations.
Overall, it’s a style of music that ends up being appealing to both jazz
and pop music lovers.
The group’s repertoire consists primarily of pop and R&B classics, which
date as far back as 1971 with the Jackson 5’s hit “Never Can Say Goodbye”,
and go straight through today with the music of such artists as No Doubt
and Macy Gray. In addition, The Kazz Band also throws in the occasional
jazz standard and even some Latin music, which further showcases the ensemble’s
versatility.
The Kazz Band has performed primarily at private functions, including
many wedding cocktail hours, with their most notable performance being
for the Make-A-Wish Foundation Holiday Auction. Click the song titles

SWINGIN´ JIVE PATROL
Swingin’ Jive Patrol is a ‘lil big band that specializes in swing and Latin music. This band gets people on the dance floor and keeps them there. The band’s repertoire ranges from the 1940’s swing of Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman, to Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie Orchestra, to the retro swing sound (i.e. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) of just a few years ago and the authentic Latin sounds of Tito Puente. The band consists of a hot six-horn front line that is flexible enough to quickly change sounds from a big band to a jazz combo. The band also features Dan Shaut as a male vocalist and can be augmented with a female vocalist and Latin percussionists to make the Salsa sound authentic.
SJP was founded in 1999 by Dan Shaut and began with students from Ithaca College. After a two-year stint in the Washington DC area, the band is now back in New York. Some notable past performances in DC include; the Clarendon Ballroom, the Chevy Chase Ballroom, the Four Seasons (Georgetown wedding,) The Sequoia restaurant (Georgetown wedding,) and Swing Fling. SJP was the first band invited to Swing Fling, an international swing dance competition including over 1,000 dancers. In New York SJP has performed at: Club Babalu, Ithaca College, Binghamton University, the Hillside Manor, Twin Lakes, WAMC Auditorium, Windham Ski Resort and numerous other places.
